The Evansville region does not have one fall calendar. It has four: Southwestern Indiana, Western Kentucky, the Ohio River, and the school-and-work schedules that determine whether a “quick trip” is actually quick.
This guide collects the strongest confirmed events from late July through October 2026 across Evansville, Henderson, Owensboro, and Newburgh. It is a planning hub, not an exhaustive calendar.
August: music, culture, cars, and lights

Wild Summer Lights runs Thursday through Sunday evenings at Mesker Park Zoo. It is the easiest August event to combine with another daytime activity.
Bluegrass in the Park turns 40 in 2026 and remains free at Audubon Mill Park. One week later, Owensboro's free Multicultural Festival returns to the First Presbyterian Church lawn.
The month closes with Frog Follies, when pre-1949 street rods take over the Vanderburgh 4-H Center.
September: look up
The Owensboro Air Show runs September 11–13. Friday's airport event is followed by free Saturday and Sunday flying programs over the riverfront, currently scheduled for 1–4 p.m. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and U.S. Army Golden Knights are among the announced performers.

On September 19–20, Preservation Station's Fall Market in Owensboro shifts the focus to seasonal décor, vendors, and early holiday shopping. It is outside central Owensboro, so map the venue rather than treating it as a downtown event.

How to choose where to stay
Do not use the center of a city on a map. Use the exact venue and the main purpose of your trip.
- Evansville: best when several activities, hospitals, or downtown appointments are part of the stay.
- Newburgh: convenient for Warrick County, the historic riverfront, and Evansville's east side.
- Henderson: logical when the festival or jobsite is in Henderson and you want to remain south of the river.
- Owensboro: the right base when the air show or a Daviess County event is the trip's anchor.
Compare furnished rentals across the region by drive, parking, bedroom layout, and cancellation terms—not headline nightly price alone.
